For busy small business owners, creating the world's greatest website is not top of mind. (Shocking, we know.) To help those who have limited time and tech-savviness, Yahoo Small Business created a site-building platform with a stress-free user experience. They came to us to create a distinct look and feel for their brand, refresh their landing page, and promote their services to potential customers looking for an easy way to create a stunning website.

Strategizing with Small Business Owners in Mind

To state the obvious: A platform for building websites needs a slick website. To that end, Yahoo Small Business asked us to upgrade theirs to feel more modern and user-friendly, always staying focused on the needs of busy, resource-strapped small business owners. To match the new tools built into the site-building platform, we went for a clean aesthetic with an added emphasis on product education.

Our embedded team of designers and copywriters did rapid iterations — sometimes daily — working closely with YSB’s marketing and product groups. We also pulled in Ready State’s strategic communications experts to help on parts of the project. 

Results

Before, each page or campaign was a different project for YSB. Now they have a consistent look-and-feel and brand identity that applies across assets and channels of all kinds, from web to email to print marketing materials — treating small businesses like the big deal they are.
